This is a fun, transitional league. Players use a hard ball and experience "live" pitching from other 3rd graders.
Players should expect to rotate through all positions on the field, with the exception of pitcher and catcher, which some children opt not to play.
Games are 6 innings long (approximately 2 hours) and are called by umpires. Berating of umpires by coaches, players, or spectators is not tolerated.
Majors league will play games on Wednesday nights with one scheduled practice per week. Practices will be scheduled by the coach once teams are formed.
Attention Parents of Second Graders: 2nd Graders are able to register for Majors if the parents are sure that their child is ready to pitch, as typically 2nd graders play in our Rookies developmental league (coach pitch).
When deciding if your child is ready for this level of play, please consider the following:
Majors uses a hard ball and is kid pitch. This is a large transition from coach pitch with a safety ball.
Players practice 1-2 times per week and play an additional 6 inning-game each week.
Players must attend evaluations in early April and are placed on teams via a draft.
There is a mid-season and end-of-season tournament.
If you feel your child is ready for Majors/Kid Pitch, or have any questions regarding which level to select for your child, please contact the house director David Harris or the majors commissioner Kevin Voss
Per MYAS bat standards: bat diameter of 2 5/8" and 2 3/4" are allowed in Majors. There is no restriction on the bat length to weight differential.
