HOUSE EVALUATION AND DRAFT PROCEDURES
Evaluations:
- All players registered for this league are strongly encouraged to take part in the player evaluation in order to develop equally balanced teams.
- Players will be evaluated by outside evaluators at a series of stations including hitting, fielding, catching, throwing and pitching. Players will have ID numbers on their shirt for evaluators to reference.
House Draft:
- The house draft will be held after the travel teams are selected and will be conducted by the league commissioners and house director.
- Coaches will be asked for player requests prior to the draft, and every effort will be made to get the requested kids on their team.
- Team sequence of draft will be determined by a lottery to keep the process fair.
- Kids will be separated into draft rounds based on their evaluation scores and the number of teams. For example: If there are 6 teams, the top 6 kids are round 1. Each team is assigned one of the six players from round 1. Round 2 would consist of kids 7-12. This continues until all the kids are selected. If a coach has requested 2 or more kids that fall in the same draft round, they would only get one of them on their team.
- The league commissioner will communicate player/team assignments, contact information, etc. following the league draft. Any disputes or other requests should be communicated to the league commissioner within 24 hours of the draft.
Special Instructions:
- Requests for players to be placed on the same team (for ride-share needs, etc.) will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Requests for kids to be on a certain coach’s team, or NOT on a certain coach’s team, will be handled case by case with oversight from the league commissioner and league director.
- Coaches can consider trades after the draft (due to unique/extenuating circumstances) as long as the trade is made prior to the first practice, the respective parents are aware, and the commissioner is updated immediately.
